Disinfectant Wipes Vs Antibacterial
Is there a difference between disinfectant wipes and antibacterial wipes? Yes, and it is mostly on the general makeup of the products. Disinfectant wipes generally kill germs within minutes. That would include bacteria, viruses and fungi. Antibacterial wipes work generally the same way, albeit, the name implies that it is more focused on killing bacteria than any other types of germs.
Antibacterial products contain extra chemicals that will kill bacteria and inhibit them from replicating. These products usually contain triclosan and triclocarban, which have not been proven to be safe over a period of time. Triclosan is found in many products as is an antibacterial and antifungal agent. It is found in toothpastes, furniture, clothes and toys, among others. People who have had extensive exposure to triclosan are believed to develop immunity to antibiotics and other medicines. This poses a problem, which is why caution is being imposed when using antibacterial products.
