Remember that your surgical mask must have a three-layer design which includes an outer fluid-repelling layer, a middle layer serves as a barrier to germs and an inner moisture-absorbing layer.

Wash your hand with soap for 20 seconds before putting on a surgical mask.

The surgical mask should fit snugly over your face.

The colored side and the side with folds facing downwards of the surgical mask should face outwards with the metallic strip in the upper part of your face.

If you have a tie-on surgical mask then you have to secure the upper ties at the crown of your head. After that, secure the lower ties at your nape.

If you chose an ear-loops type of mask then you have to place the elastic bands around both your ears. Put your surgical mask to fully cover your mouth, nose, and chin. Next is to mold the metallic strip over your nose bridge and the surgical mask should fit snugly over your face.

You must at all cost avoid touching your surgical mask after wearing it. If you did, you should perform wash your hands again and always before and after touching your mask.

When taking off your tie-on surgical mask you should unfasten the ties at your nape first; then unfasten the ties at the crown of your head. 

For your ear-loops type, you have to hold both the ear loops and take it off gently from your face. You should avoid touching the outside of your mask when taking it off as it may be covered with germs.

After taking off your surgical mask, you need to discard in a lidded trash bin and wash your hand with soap at once.

You have to regularly change your 3 ply surgical mask. In general, it should not be reused. Also, replace your mask immediately if it is damaged or soiled.
